Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation has always accepted horses that were considered unadoptable due to various race related injuries. These horses live a happy and healthy life in a herd environment. However, occasionally a horse will lose weight or become sore. This can happen for a variety of reasons. Those horses are placed in the special needs group, which is now “Olivia’s Herd”.
Who is caring for them?
The horses in Olivia’s Herd are located across a number of TRF facilities. Our experienced TRF farm managers or satellite farm managers care for these horses, under the direction of their local veterinarian.
How is my donation applied?
100% of any donation is directed utilized in the care and maintenance of these horses. It buys hay, grain and medical supplies as well as odds and ends for the upkeep and maintenance of the barns and pasture lands.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us and we will be happy to answer them accordingly.
